Argentum, the Fifth Kingdom

Argentum, the Fifth Kingdom

Though its place as the Fifth among the Seven was secured quite late, Argentum is a very prosperous kingdom. Its people live under the benevolent rule of King Robert II. The numerous villages and cities dotting the landscape are home to a variety of races and personalities, ranging from Gnomes to Half-orcs, and from beggars to lords.

The capital of Argentum is King’s Landing, an immense city which lay on the eastern coast. King’s Landing is largely supported by commerce, and the harbor is crowded with merchant ships day and night. The city is separated into many distinct districts, each catered to a specific type of business: Marketplace, Lodging, Temple, Residential, etc. Upon the city’s highest hill looms the Bloodstone Bastion, the enormous cathedral-like castle of King Julian II.

Much of the kingdom is covered in thick forests and minor mountains, home to tribes of wild tree elves and contingents of dwarves, respectively.

In more civilized areas, races and professions are diverse:

  • Dwarves are somewhat rare in Argentum. Those few that do reside within the kingdom often utilize their natural skills as miners and craftsmen to create weapons, armor, and brilliant jewelry from fine metals and brilliant gemstones.
  • Elves, half-elves, and gnomes often practice the arcane arts, whether it be alchemy or enchantment. The greatest among their ranks serve as esteemed wizards and sorcerers, maintaining the peace or rooting out evildoers.
  • Half-orcs are quite rare in Argentum, and have their own secluded societies. These small camps are led by the strongest members of the tribe, and occasionally half-orcs will depart the encampments to join civil society. There, they often find work in professions which require immense strength, such as bodyguards, law enforcement, or smiths.
  • As in most aspects, humans are professionally diverse, encompassing all manner of jobs. Most often, however, humans are the enterprising owners of small businesses such as taverns, inns and general stores.
